Considering WP*

Hi everyone! I'm a current LG Optimus G user (previous iPhone 4S User) and I'm considering switching to WP8 in the coming 2 weeks. I'll have to get a device on May 1st, to be exact. I'm switching over to AT&T. I was just wondering, in comparison to Android, what are the pros and cons of WP8? I know notification center is an issue that should be fixed soon but what other things have you noticed?
Read my review here - http://forums.windowscentral.com/no...a-lumia-24-hours-after-switching-android.html
Have used a bunch of droids before deciding to switching to WP8
Things that matter to me: Battery life. I'm a college student, so my phone lasting all day is important. But I understand if it can't for 14 hours. I usually have a computer to charge up with.
Messaging - Integrated messaging is awesome. But really just fluidity of the keyboard and messaging apps.
Facebook - Still essential for all my organizations and friends. But not for updates. I don't use push notifications. Just to check myself.
Twitter - I love twitter :( I'm guilty. But having a great twitter app.. necessity. Something like Falcon Pro would be great but I could live without it.
Something similar to Google Currents! I love reading articles, on tech and on Politics.
I'm not able to comment on battery as I haven't tested it fully (remember am using a 720) from what I know 920's battery is not so cool
Social networking is integrated within the contact list itself, so I can see Mr. X's phone number, swipe left to see his facebook wall, swipe left to see his photos
Don't use twitter, can't comment
I use CNN reader for staying updated with news :), never really used google current

Screen size is also an issue. I'm deciding between the 8X and Lumia 920. Does the heftiness bother you, and are the Nokia Apps better?
Lastly, price. Both of these phones, refurbished, cost .99 cents. But new ones are only $50 right now. Much more affordable than GS4 and HTC One, which I also considered. 4.7 inches I think is just too big for me. But yeah, feel free to share your thoughts, and experiences, I'd love some input. I will indeed be going to check the phones out myself today and tomorrow as well for the physical build quality. I would get a Matte Lumia :)
I'd request you to have a look at Lumia 720 :), it has a good battery, is not weighty and looks extremely sleek and attractive. Nokia apps are cool, read my review. I was not a gamer on the android so can't comment there but the apps I've seen so far (even free ones) seem to be pretty solid.
Microsoft asks developers to pay $99 every year to post their apps, maybe thats the reason that even the free apps are so great?
My palm is very big (Covers 60% of the length of an A4 paper from tallest finger till the end) however 720 fits just fine in my hands, was using an Xperia T previously. The tallest phone I've used till date is the communicator 9500 lol. I keep my phone in my trouser's front pocket and it fits nicely, however if it was a taller phone I'd have to keep it in my hand or bag as there would be a risk of someone flicking it easily. Can't keep it on the top pocket (even this one).

P.S. - I am not a fan of matte phones, prefer glossy :)

If I get a Lumia, I'll be able to get a Nexus 7 :) I need a tablet for school anyway, and iPads are a noooo. But I do still need calendar to sync up. Calendar, and email. That would be awesome :)

I love my Lumia 920 and I'm mostly happy with the ongoing development of WP8, but I probably would have gone Android if I was a full-time student and my school used Google services. But it sounds like you've been in this situation for at least a few months and the tight integration maybe isn't that critical for you. Can you edit google documents through a web browser on the phone? There aren't any integrated productivity features you'd miss?

If the phone is primarily for personal use/fun, and all you really need is mail and calendar access then I think you could sort that out. In that case, I would still recommend the Lumia 920 (or maybe the 720 if you want something a little smaller and you're not a spec-*****). Look through this site or outside news reports and compare the level of involvement and engagement that Nokia has compared to HTC. That said, I have to admit that if my company suddenly switched to Google services and I needed to buy an Android phone right now, I would get an HTC One. Samsung is clearly the bigger, better partner on the Android side- but I just find their current designs singularly unattractive. Conversely, the HTC One is probably my favorite-looking phone at the moment (not to mention that their "Blink" interface apes WP8). It would take catastrophic early reviews to sway me away from the One and towards the S4.
