Copilot+ PCs made a dramatic entrance in 2024, but their sales fell flat. But why?

"Was the hype for Copilot+ PCs overblown?"

What an absurd question. Of COURSE the "AI" hype was overblown. Hugely, comically, ridiculously overblown. Microsoft was making statements like "We need to build nuclear power plants next to our AI data centers".

How stupid can you get? Because it takes a minimum of 10 years to get a nuclear power plant designed, licensed, built, inspected and online. And that's when the plant is going to power entire cities of homes, schools, factories and everything else. How eager will regulators be to grant a license to power ONLY an "AI" datacenter? And how much public opposition will there be to this?

Not to mention that MS made "AI" equal to spyware with their incredible blunder of Windows Recall.

And as we all know, no one buys a new PC when the old one still works fine. And most people only use Windows PCs for work.

For these (and other) reasons, it will take 3 to 5 years for most people to have an "AI" capable PC. Whether or not they actually USE the "AI" features is another question entirely.

"2024 was the year of AI".

Yeah, and every year from 1996 to 2024 has been "The year of Linux". 2024 was just "The year of absurd AI hype".
