Hey guys I bought a 200GB SD card for my Lumia 950XL DS (to replace my old 64GB card), now I am wondering if i can just

1. Power off the phone
2. Get my old SD card out
3. copy all the stuff from my old SD card (offline Music from my Groove music pass, pictures, vidoes, offline maps,...) to my new SD card
4. Put the new card in

Will that work? Do the Apps (Groove Music/Maps/...) recognize the data and all works like before?

Music, video, pics and maps, yes (phone will do a scan and update objects again due to changed logic addresses of files), I've some doubt't about apps.....

Having apps on SD and copy them to a new SD is cause of grief....a lot of grief...you might even notice malfunction of other apps on 32GB phone...then you must hard reset reinstall all apps again. Reason is apps on SD have their pointers installed on phone RAM.

Best is before removing SD delete all apps installed on SD...install them on phone to make sure they function normally...place new blank SD in phone let be formatted inside phone. Then you can copy non app files & folders on SD1 to SD2 while SD2 is in phone or out via desktop.

SETUP: Remember to set properly where apps be saved and where pics files etc.

Probably best to move all apps to the phone first. Then move them back to new SD card. Otherwise, they WILL NOT WORK.

Very true..
Even moving apps to/fro card/phone/card is no guarantee.
.... I could never could properly backup/restore whatsapp ..

The advice for this (having just done it) is to copy the files directly from card to card on a pc (or via a folder on your pc) - ensuring that you unhide hidden files/folders and copy them as well. As long as you copy the hidden files all works well and doesn't require any rescanning (this is for data not apps).

Format the new card first on phone, and set music, video, and photo on SD card. Use unmount / eject card on phone, don't just yank it off phone.

When you copy data from old card to new card on PC don't overwrite the new card desktop.ini (show hidden file option). Don't mess with wpsystem. That's where apps stored on SD card is saved.
PS: After new card with old data copied is inserted to phone, don't check immediately if phone can recognize old data. Let the phone do the indexing first. Wait about 10 minutes. Could be more depends on how many pictures there is.

Regarding apps, you can move everything except the apps to the new card. Install the card in your phone and set the default storage location of apps to the SD card. Open the MS store app, navigate to My Library and reinstall all the apps you want

I just imaged between two cards in 8.1, but it was REALLY finicky too. Then, two reboots fixed the desktop.ini (I was about to dig into both files to attempt to merge) issue.
I put a 128 into my 950XL, but did the same thing to bring my data over first, just ran an image. The 950XL did the right thing, right away, but given that I was doing a few reboots at first, I guess it could've required two still, and maybe I just missed it...
Seems like a really simple app/tool to write, to move the data to a larger card, but the problem would be getting it out there; I don't think you could sell it on the store, or maybe you can, I don't know all the rules (given that it would run on a PC, but is targeted for the phone).

I changed the SD cards, went OK I think :) (btw Apps was already set to store on device, I think I had it like that since I have the device^^)

What I did:

Select remove SD card on the phone --> powered off phone --> got the old SD card out and copied it to my PC --> insert new SD card in the phone and format it --> select remove SD card in the phone --> powered off the phone and removed the card --> copied old SD card contents to new SD card (did not overwrite any files) --> insert new SD card into phone --> power on

So far it's looking good.

Donloaded music from my Groove Music Pass got recognized
Pictures from Whatsapp are still in Whatsapp history when I scroll up
Maps I had to change the location where offline maps are stored again in the Maps app, but it recognized all my offline maps after that
Pictures are still indexing I guess (I have around 40GB of Pictures on the SD card) since some folders are still black/empty in the Camera Roll under folders
