Hi all,

So I just downgraded to WP8.0 from the Preview build so that I could get the official 8.1 build and Cyan, and Cortana forgot everything I taught her (I hope we won't need to set her up every time we change devices...). I asked her to "Call mom" and she asked which contact I want to pair with "mom." First, my mother's contact in my phone is actually "Mom," so it baffles me why Cortana did not choose her. When I said my mother's actual name, thinking maybe for some reason I didn't have her as "Mom" in my phone, it chose my aunt instead, and now whenever I say "Call mom," my aunt is called instead. I have no idea how to reset this or change it... any help would be appreciated!!

The only reason she "forgot" when you downgraded is because the data is stored in on your phone and not the cloud for privacy reasons. To change the contact associated, open Cortana via the search or the pinned tile or via the app list. Tap on the hamburger icon to access her notebook --> go to "inner circle" --> tap and hold on a contact to remove or a single tap to edit a nickname, to add a new contact use the + icon on the bottom.

TechFreak1, thanks for the reply, but I did not add her to the inner circle, and she is not listed in there ("she" being my aunt who cortana mistakenly added as my mother). Any other ideas?

That's bizarre, I was aware from your post that you didn't add her to the inner circle and I presumed contacts that get nicknames added by Cortana showed up in the inner circle in her notebook. Personally I haven't used Cortana that much, just find it odd talking to my phone lol.

Well good to know that is been fixed :), calling your aunt by mistake would have been quiet awkward especially when you've just yammered away for a few after the phone had been picked up :winktongue: .
