Cortana will not work on my computer

[Windows Central Question]

I have a brand new Dell all-in-one computer with windows 10. I did everything I was promptedd to do to set up but Cortana does not work. It looks like she is listening but not hearing and not responding

Have you checked the settings for recording devices and turned up the gain on the microphone?
