I've never seen a fake 930, although I suppose they're out there.

I suppose the best thing is to familiarize yourself with a legitimate 930 or Icon, get a feel for it.
But also, best thing is to actually turn it on, see if it responds and handles exactly as it should.
If counterfeiters put actual Windows Phone on it (the whole nine yards) maybe its worth it. (I jest)

I recommend getting them online in retailers like Amazon where the seller is Amazon or the official Microsoft store website. Also If you are getting the in stores, go to a huge, well known retailers, smaller less known ones are more likely to have fakes. Your question is a bit vague so I'm not sure I answered your question properly

I've yet to seek a fake WP, nor a clone. The nearest thing out there is the rarely seen China-made budget Androids with WP-like launchers.
