I'm planning to get a 930, but undecided on whether to get a UK country variant or get one from a provider (EE/T-Mobile/Orange..they are all the same thing!)

The 630 I have now is a country variant with no bloatware or any 'added extras' which is the way I like it. Coming from Android I hate all the skins and added crap they add onto a phone.

So has anyone got a 930 on EE (in the UK) and can let me know? The price between getting a phone from a retailer plus SIM only deal and getting a contact phone over 2 years is much the same.

Also are the updates any quicker with a country variant, again with most Android updates they have to go for telco approval before they are released so they take ages (if they ever arrive)!

Get a CV!!!
You won't have to wait for carrier approval on updates, once its out for your country on your phone model your set.

I assume, that like my 1320, any Lumia can easily be flashed with a different ROM?
EE were doing the 930 for ?350 on PAYG, which, if you are on EE anyway is a good price.
The only thing is if you need it unlocked,EE make you wait six months.

It that only a warranty thing or something else?

Could I get a 930 on contract then decide to put CV firmware on it, and then then latest WP software? After reading about replacing firmware there doesn't seem to be anything stopping you changing from a carrier locked version to an unlocked one.

Not true. Most CV handsets are still waiting despite the same models getting updates from a carrier.
