Cracked Screen Nightmare :[

Looks like I've identified the issue, it's not good news, but it's worth noting for your own knowledge and I hope this helps someone else. Turns out the shop has damaged the LCD conduit :( Basically, the soft keys are lit up by a micro thin conduit which is around the edge of the LCD panel. I noticed this damage the other day but thought nothing of it as the screen switched on. Before I started working, a piece dropped out. I thought nothing of it, but like I always say when I work on a car, if there's no reason for it to be there, why is it there :(

I find it hard to believe that if I put it back in it would work, but hell, maybe if I have to remove the digitizer again, I'll put it back and see if it works, however I don't believe it will. It's so small, making a circuit with it would be near impossible I reckon. The only fix will be a new LCD :(

Anyway, my gf isn't too bothered by the issue as she knows her way around the buttons. I'm annoyed. The piece of tubing is so small though, so I can see how it got damaged. I myself have dinked it slightly just in my fingers.

Note to all, be very careful of the white bead around the screen if you want to protect your buttons lighting up :( I found out the hard way.

The saga continues. I've now been told that my post above is wrong. The seller of the digitizer has told me she thinks the digitizer may have had faulty LED's and therefore it was that which has failed. She also offered a partial refund or replacement digitizer. Might just take the partial refund. My girlfriend is happy with the device as it is. Not sure it's worth ******* about with it unless she smashes it again...

I may take it apart and double check the connections are all securely pushed down. The woman did say it could have been damaged during fitting, but I took extra care to make sure I didn't. Who knows eh?

hey I know it's a bit too late, but if your gf ever broke it again : Nokia Lumia 920 Digitizer|Touch Screen

I broke mine like a month ago. Before buying mine i was trying to look for the cheapest one but i have realize while looking on ebay, that they are selling the same fakes ones under multitude of different names with prices ranging from 6$ to 20$... So i thought it would be a better idea to buy one that would cost more than risk getting a knock off just for saving a couple of $.

I also think that there is less chance that they would create a fake digitizer with a AT&T logo since people usually want one without it . When i received it, it looked really like the one i had and it was packaged really well in a sealed tupperware box!

No lagging when using the screen which sometime happens with cheaper screens. After 1 month still happy that i bought it there

Thanks for your post. I'm fairly certain that the screen I bought is genuine OEM. Perhaps I damaged it fitting it? Or perhaps I didn't press down the display cable properly? Who knows? I haven't taken it apart to find out. However I know that with a fake screen there were problems, with this one, aside from the LED's there are none. It works very well.

I've taken the partial refund and my gf is happy. If it breaks again, I'll go for e-trade supply with the adhesive etc.
