Cracking Surface Duo usb port

My usb c port is cracking on my $1700 phone that just got updated today and suddenly stopped working with Android auto! I'm furious!

That's terrible. U should ask for a replacement.

seems to me the phone is not what it's cracked up to be. I have been reading a lot of reports about cracking and breakage around the port.

I guess this is one aspect where being the thinnest device has a risk associated with it. I wonder if a different material for the frame would have made any difference with this.

Yeah, this is definitely a gen 1 issue. Surface Duo is awesome. But there will be some necessary changes for gen 2. Including the material design for the sides of the device.

maybe gen 2 will have wireless charging to stop some of the cracking

My crack came from the bumper case pressing on the USB cable when closed. I got a replacement device, notched the bumper and no crack so far. Hope that helps someone here.

All top end phones are the same; marketing money-for-nothing from the manufacturer's point of view. Wait until the marketing wanes and get the same thing, which is same as the other thing, for the price of the other thing. My point is, the Duo, not quite the same, breaks just the same.
