I ran CrystalDiskMark on my Surface Go (8 GB/128 GB, Windows 10 Pro) and Surface 3 (4 GB/128 GB, Windows 8.1 Pro) to compare:

internal C drive
SanDisk 32 GB micro SDXC card (not sure the speed, but over 3 years old)
Samsung EVO Select 128 GB micro SDXC card

I have been perfectly happy with my Surface 3 for the three-plus years I've used it, other than it being too big. Given that it has been plenty fast enough for the tasks for which I use it, I expect to be very happy with the Go's speed.

Thanks for sharing this! I was wondering if the microSD card slot is based on usb2 as was my Surface 3. Good to know that it's based on usb3 hence alot faster and more usable.

If you are the person who asked about whether the Micro SD card slot is USB 3, you’re the reason I ran the tests. I wouldn’t have thought to do so had the question not have been asked.

Just received my Surface Go/ 128Gb model this morning. I ran crystaldiskmark and I seem to get a much higher write speed than yours! I'm getting 1266 read and 598 write! I also benchmarked a PNY 256Gb micro SD card and I got 87 read and 76 write. Very good results.
