Current OS build for the 928

Howdy folks,

I am a long time admirerer of WP, but now a first time owner. I got a brand spanking new 928 off of ebay, but have not activated it yet. Mainly because I'm still on contract with sprint till the 22nd of September. But also because I'm a little unsure still about giving up my unlimited data for verizon.......Anyhoo!

I've been using my 928 at home and out and about, but only connecting with the Wi-Fi. I did check for a phone update and received one over wi-fi, but I don't know what build or updates I specifically received. So my question currently is, what's the most currect build of WP8 that's out for the 928 and how do I know if I received GDR2 or the Amber update. Does it come over wi-fi, or cellular?

Go to Settings | About

OS version: 8.0.10327.77

Or Settings | extras+info and you'll see the words Lumia Amber under software release.

Comes over WiFi. You can download an app called Hardware Tests and see what updates were installed. The OS build should be 8.0.10327.77 and firmware should be 3045.0000.1328.2046

I don't see anything that says amber in mines but the firmware and OS build matches the ones u guys listed

You have the GDR2 update then.
To see the Amber stuff you need to download SysApp Pusher. Drag the "..." up and click on check versions. That should give you a healthy list of updates that you device needs. Afterwards, you'll need to install almost everything under system to see the full potential of your device. Just updating extras+info will show "Lumia Amber" under software release.
