dead 920. no solution?

Hello All,

A few days ago, my 920 was charged and working. I drove 5 minutes to the train station and take my phone out and it is completely dead. It won't turn on, charge or reboot. I took it to a cellphone repair place (ubreakifix) and they say it is the battery and charge port. They replaced those things and... nothing. There were some pictures of private client information and other files saved on the phone, some in the photo lock free app and others I just failed to back up. Is there any way to recover files from the phone? The repair shop said I am out of luck. Any help at any cost would be appreciated. Thank you!

Put it in a plastic bag and put it in the freezer for an hour or two, then charge it. Good luck!

(Oddly had to do the same thing a couple days ago on my Lumia 920).

The freezer actually worked but only long enough for the phone to display the battery low signal for a few minutes before it went completely dead again. Thanks but does anybody have any other ideas?

If the charging port is bad, will it charge wirelessly?

If you don't have a qi wireless charger, you could probably take it to an MS store or best buy to test if wireless charging would work... They generally have a working qi charger on display... My local best buy had a Samsung qi charger next to the S phones.

Soft reset while off and plugged to the charger

My 920 has shutoff a couple times in the past after 8.1 updates. It showed over 50% charge, then nothing. Plugging into the wall did nothing, but Qi eventually showed the red low battery symbol and the phone then booted up. I would try Qi first. If that doesn't work try connecting via Usb to PC and try the Windows Recovery tool. Bing it. I'm not sure if all your data will be available, depends on if the apps save files in the cloud?

In the future OneDrive and file history, if saved to PC, are your best friend. Good luck!
