Would it matter if that country doesn't use the same frequencies as us? Also hear the rom can effect 4g(aka 3g 1/2)

That's great! Yeah, the only reason now to flash would be to get the Data Sense app, but that's not really worth it. Glad you got the Black update.

There is somewhere on this forum. Also using the Australia rom. In order to get tethering I had to get the first update when I started upgrading to windows 8.1

As far as I am aware, the Tethering option (Internet Sharing) is a SIM-defined issue. If I put a standard TMo SIM in, that option cannot be activated. When I put the local carrier unlimited-data SIM back in it is allowed.

I am using an Unlocked att-branded phone and win8.0.

Is there anyone that also has a SIM-locked lumia and flashed an international rom get a SIM error? That is one of my biggest fears, the biggest is chance of bricking.

I flashed my AT&T 520 to Australian stock rom, without any issues. It is still simlocked to AT&T GoPhone.
