Lol I remember when my friends show me this. I was just baffled at how they freak out over these permissions however Facebook does invade your privacy by using these permissions to sell ads however am I even gonna click on the Ads. No! So why should I care?

This "hoax" had been going around Facebook for a few months now. The Messenger app (at least on Android) has the same permissions that the normal Facebook app has. It was pretty funny seeing people post this from their mobile Facebook app complaining about the Messenger app.

It needs to access your pictures because you can send pictures... your mic because you can voice dial people... your camera because you can use it to take pictures...

Could it do this stuff secretly in the background. Sure! So could the normal Facebook app... so could any other app that needs access to those things. But if some company like Facebook actually DID that. They would be screwed.

I deleted the FB messenger app, but not because of anything to do with this post... I'm upset with FB forcing MS to remove the FB messaging from the stock WP8.1 messaging app and as such, I have no use for it.

Watched the video, plus why should android users be worried anyway?

Heck if people are truly worried then they might as well just use tin cans & a string as it is not like uninstalling one app will prevent any other organistations "cough" (who I shall not name) from looking through your life if they wanted to without prior approval and without you knowing about it.

In the video it says Facebook Messenger had a 1 star rating in the apple app store and similar on the play store. But when I check up both the stores I find that on android its rated 3.9 and on iTunes 4+ . Kinda confused......

same on my side. couldn't believe they even fabricated the ratings to get more attention.
but if you look at the video at 0:47, it is clearly shown the app has 4 darker stars. So this so-called TECH EXPERT Anthony guy they picked off the street couldn't even read app store ratings!

The overall rating my show 3 or 4 stars, but read the reviews. The individual reviews are all one or two stars.
