Dialer Question

Is there a way to bring up the dialer app and not have call history be the default screen? It would seem to be a no-brainer to have the keypad come up first, with a button to access contacts at the bottom. I actually make a lot of calls to numbers not in my phone and it seems pretty tedious the way it's set up now.

No i don't believe so, but Rapdialer cured that for me.

I've tried several of the third party dialers and found they all leave something to be desired. Some things MS has done seem to defy logic.
