you're lucky something shows up. my AT&T 920 pops up error when I try that combo. "something happened and we couldn't process this action"

If you say yours is blue definitely its not your phones color:) maybe its the update.
Go to Settings >About
and/or
Settings > extras+ info
There you'll get pretty much everything about your phone

you got Cyan. Somebody may have slapped the firmware for the black onto the device. Or somebody took a black L920 and changed the housing to blue (e.g. mine is a chameleon).
and there is still the chance that a blue L920 shows Black.

product codes and colors: this is just for America. there are other codes for other regions.
059L848 NDT AMERICA ATT Black
059N5T3 NDT AMERICA ATT White
059N5T5 NDT AMERICA ATT Yellow
059N5T7 NDT AMERICA ATT Red
059N5T9 NDT AMERICA ATT Cyan

Pull the SIM card out and tilt the phone so that the SIM tray slides out (metal). Your product code will be printed on a label along with the IMEI number.

Or download Nokia Care Suite and connect the phone (under Product Support Tool). It will display the product code.

Just checked mine. It is indeed on the metal sim tray (see video above). It's tiny tiny font and you need a magnifying glass to read it.

Well I have a yellow 920 for AT&T and it did work for me. It says YELLOW for the color variant. Which means your phone was originally Black but was changed with a Cyan case.

My case might have been changed, but should I be concerned?

If everything works right, there is no major need for concern. Sure, it's been opened and the housing swapped, but it should be fine.

I wouldn't be. I might consider swapping when I'm out of warranty.

Oops sorry. Mine also shows the timer. Thank God!!

Sent by Cortana on my request from awesome red Lumia 920!

the code on the sim card tray (metal) should give the final clue. There is otherwise still the possibility that the firmware of a different color was installed and it's the original housing on the phone.

an interesting possibility is that somebody changed the housing from black to Yellow and installed the firmware code for Yellow
who would know (without checking the code on the sim card tray that is)....

You can flash with the cyan variant firmware to make the firmware cyan, as well. I don't think there's any difference, other than the default Accent colour.

I do not believe that's his concern. The concern is that he bought a phone by a "not so honest" dealer....
