Difference between 'Outlook' and 'Outlook.com' accounts?!

My doubt is about Outlook. I use a Windows phone(Lumia). I never had an 'NAME@outlook.com' mail account before. But i had a microsoft account using my Gmail address and i have used MS services like Onedrive and stuff. But recently i decided to create an outlook mail address. That is when the problem started. Now in my phone, if i go to 'Filter Contacts' option (People > ... > Settings > Filter contacts List) it shows two accounts other than the usual Gmail,Skype,Facebook accounts. One is Outlook.com and other one is just Outlook.

My question is why is it like that? Do i have 2 separate accounts?!

NOTE: Surprisingly, i couldn't find an 'Outlook' section in 'Pick a category' section of this forum!

Sounds like two accounts.
Might be better to login to outlook.com on a pc and set up an alias rather than a whole new account.
