Disappearing storage?

I just bought a black 2520 from ATT this weekend, and while I've mostly been loving it, there's been one thing that puzzles me-- though I haven't downloaded a new app or a file in two days, my available storage space seems to be slowly disappearing. Is this from temporary files, browsing history, or what?

Go to charms bar ? settings ? change computer settings ? search and apps ? appsizes. There you can see how much the apps use

I had a problem where when I was trying to sync a video from XBox Video, the download was failing but the storage was still being consumed. After a couple of tries the video app was close to 12GB. I uninstalled/reinstalled to get the storage back. Like DBDev says, check the app sizes.

Has anyone else had problems trying to download purchased videos using Xbox video? I was going to leave this alone, but when I called Xbox support today, they told me to contact Nokia. I have about 10GB of available storage, but when I try to download a 4GB movie, it gets to 99%, then errors out and tells me I need to delete files to free up 5GB of storage. When I check app sizes afterwards, video has grown to 4+GB. Anyone know what is going on? I'll share the results of my call to Nokia as soon as I can.

I just added up all my apps and they come to around 14GB, but it says I only have 5gb left.

Tried to find a folder tree scanner, but the only one I found was so inefficient at scanning the system that I couldn't use it.

According to Nokia, I need to refresh Windows. I'm sure this is part of the normal troubleshooting script, but what the heck, I'll give it a try. I also took the opportunity to ask about the sleep of death bug - the agent says that they are aware and a "higher authority" is working on a fix.

So, after getting rid of Spartan Assault and Asphalt 7, I performed my first refresh. Afterwards, it took forever to install the updates, but in the end, I was able to download videos purchased in Xbox Video, move to the SD, and play from there. I did, however, encounter a different issue in that I appear to have lost the "rights" to download at least one of my movies... overall, though, it seems my storage/download issue is solved.

By refresh do you mean a clean wipe and reinstall? Also, where do you go to find all of the apps you downloaded (so that if/when I wipe mine I'll know)?

No, the option in Windows to refresh without touching files / preferences. I have my settings / apps backed up to SkyDrive, so after the refresh, everything came back the same as before.

Well.... I "refreshed" my tablet and now a ton of my apps aren't installed....

Getting this error for almost all of the "preinstalled" apps 80073cf1

If you refresh settings its takes a ton of space. Run disk cleanup and system files clean up after. On same screen control panel

Funny you mentioned that... I was just looking for this thread. I did the system refresh and noticed even more space was missing! After doing the disk cleanup I still only have about 5 gigs left... wtf is taking up so much space???

Yep run disk clean up and also remove all temp files. I can show you with screen shots. Then run it again and run remove system files
