Hello,

I just recently switched from an iPhone to a Lumia 930. Loving it so far.

When I start a call the display immediately shuts down and turns black. I can make the call and audio is okay, but I cannot use the display for pressing buttons, for example when setting up the mailbox.

Is this a feature I don't know how to use or a bug? Any ideas how to fix that and have you experienced it too?

Thank you,
Florian

Check if anything is blocking the Proximity Sensor present near the earpiece... screen protector over the sensor could also cause this problem.

Hi,

thank you for your feedback. I checked it this seems not to be the problem.

Kind regards,
Florian

Hello,

I have same problem as yours. I need to take my phone to Nokia Care to fix.

My 930 was encountering problems which I think is related to Proximity Sensor:

1. When I made phone call, the screen automatically turn black (Just like you!). I had to press the Power Button to turn the screen on . However, the screen turn black again in few seconds;

2. It is nearly impossible to "Double-tap to wake up" the phone;

3. The screen always turn to maximum brightness (I set the brightness to be Automatically Adjust).

I took my phone to the Nokia Care. After some test, the staff confirmed my phone's Proximity Sensor is not functioning rightly.

Hope my experience might help.

I had the same problem with my HTC Titan (WP7). The problem was proximity sensor calibration. First I took it in, they fixed in under warranty in 2 days, I took the phone home and flashed a new rom in to it; problem was back. Then I flashed stock rom back and took it in again. This time they fixed it somehow more deeply and the problem didnt appear again, even if new rom was flashed and the whole memory wiped out.

Same problem here! I convinced two people to switch to Nokia 930 and they are apparently from the same production batch. They both have the same problem. Nokia will take 2 weeks to fix it, in the meantime the two new wp-converts will be phoneless for two weeks. Nokia does not give replacement phone. Bad service! They regret making the switch and wished they would have stayed with the s5. And so do I ! Never will I recommend a Lumia to anyone, and I got about 20 people converted to Nokia over the last year.
