Disposing of QuickAccess

I followed the advice in https://www.windowscentral.com/how-remove-quick-access-file-explorer-windows-10, and instead of losing QuickAccess from Explorer, I gained a desktop item for it. Is there a method that works ?

Why do you want to remove Quick Access? Do you have a screenshot so we can see the desktop item you are referring to?
