Is updating from Windows 10 to Windows 10 Anniversary update required?

Is updating from Windows 10 to Windows 10 Anniversary update required?

generally the updates are meant for improved experiences. improved security, improved stability and most of all new features. So if you wish to delay the update, you can do that but don't delay too long

Just like the others said, the update is voluntary. If your concern is that it might wreck your machine then you should wait for a while before updating. For my 2in1 tablet, I will wait at least 1 week to 1 month max before I updating it. Checking other people with the similar device if everything works fine for them.

My understanding was that by updating or using Windows 10 (non-enterprise) you implicitly agree to all future mandatory updates. I guess you can delay it, but you are bound to update eventually.

well, haven't ordinary users always been updating their pcs when updates came in? I remember when I was on vista and I would once a month go to a cyber to update my laptop - I knew there would be updates. Holding out would have just made them pile up thus making the update process longer

Besides, if your machine is already on Windows 10 then might as well keep it up to date.
Yes that's my position, but there are always those that don't want to update for one reason or another. Just saying that from what I heard from I believe Paul Thurrott, once you buy into Windows 10 non enterprise you have an explicit agreement to update, and he made it sound like that was something new.
