Yes you need the qi charging cases for the phones. 1020's don't have qi built in, it requires a case. The case is tho and clips on, just make sure when you get it and put it on the phone to remove the stickers on the back of the phone covering the contacts.

If you are really into photography, you can get the camera grip for them as well. It adds some battery life, allows you to attach to a tripod and gives you the ability to half push the shutter button down for focus
