Re: do window 8.1 phones have a back door so law enforcement can access your data?
I can't say 100%.
Apple and Google have definitely improved their encryption chops, while on our end its limited to Enterprise customers.
We can't really say that the others don't have any backdoor or not.
We can probably be happy that busting in the front door won't happen, but back door, I wouldn't be overly surprised if some behind-the-scenes legal wars happened over this.
Apple & Google are more than likely just saying they have no backdoors for any government. Of course they all do. They just say they don't to increase their sales. Would anyone with half a brain, buy a product if the manufacturer or software makers stated, yes, we have backdoors for the government on all our devices. I don't think so, as nobody would buy it.
When Google creates a newer android version, people from the nsa are involved aswell. Probably they same with Windows and apple since they all fall under the American patriot act.
Remember the vingerprint scanner on the new 5s back then? They said it would not be stored etc. But they did.. NSA has them all!
Do not believe the lies that those big company's tell you. Ofcourse they want you to believe your data is safe! They want to keep selling.
