Does AMOLED screen really turn off pixels when the colour is black?

What about black image created using MS Paint? Will it be true black?

1. It would have to be the exact resolution of the screen.
2. It shouldn't be subjected to any compression

It should be fine in that case and stay off. turn off AUto brightness though and test it in a pure black environment like lock yourself in closet. Honestly ambient light affects it through the glass/polarization layer.
