Does Denim update fix camera problems?

Well I wouldn't call it useless. I've had my 1020 for few months and don't really have problems taking pics of my nieces (4 n 6 year olds) my only issue with the cam is its speed and sometimes I get yellowish tint but that's fixable.

Well don't get your hopes up, the Lumia Camera 5 update isn't installable on the 1020. Although I have it on my Cyan 1520, I can't force install it on my 1020.

The real problem is the phone is beyond its 18 month support cycle, plus the processor in it just doesn't support the power needed. Better they spend resources on a replacement than a update that would be placebo.

Speed is the main problem with 1020 camera. Focus, startup, capture. These three.

Hi, first MS stated that no camera updates come for other devices than 930,830,1520,icon. Second, I have O2 germany variant 64gb of 1020 which has Denim and nothing is new besides OS update which is the same as earlier on PFD. Also the freezing is still present on this, which on 8.0 was not.

No 1020 has Denim if Denim is the firmware. What can be said is:
a) No older Pureview device got "Denim" (OS update, or OS+FW update). Only O2 branded ones, like yours, got GDR1 (and a minor Cyan update). And it's not even the latest GDR1 (on the 520 etc. they got the latest version, which brings Cortana to continental Europe)
b) As you said in another post, there is more important Cyan update, being tested only on Finnish country variants (version bumps from 3051.50009.1424.xxxx to 3051.50009.1447.0001). This is supposed to be the freeze fixing FW. LumiaHelp, on Twitter, said early Dec, that "it is a Cyan update being tested in Finland ahead of Denim update"
c) Whilst I fully agree with you when you say Denim won't bring new camera features, it doesn't mean, though, it won't change anything camera-wise. For instance, there is a a bug since Black: the DNG files are not geotagged. Juha Alakarhu told me this is (finally) fixed with the next update. So even if we don't get Denim (or if we get Denim- or Cyan+), there will be changes camera-wise, maybe only bug/performance improvement.

Microsoft are obviously late for the Denim development (the real Denim, I mean, the one bringing Camera v5 to 830/1520/930). So whilst they rolled out Denim to only Nordic countries (930/1520), they also started to push GDR1 (and only OS) to older devices. Surprisingly, though, no older Pureview device (920/925/1020) got that GDR1 update, except, the O2 ones. Unlike non Pureview devices, it's a previous GDR1 version and the FW is still Cyan, barely incremented (minor change).

I do hope we ALL get that 1447 FW soon on our 1020, and that your branded device gets a second update (for both the OS, latest GDR1 version, and FW).

Well my 1020 is gone. I went for a 930 mainly because there is no word about the promised freezing fix after so long. However I still do not like Ms's attitude that seems very like Samsung's: F**** off old devices, make people buy the latest ones.I hope that 930 will not get to be firmware update-less like 1020 is now. MS should make sure it keeps it's users while trying to attract new ones but with this kind of attitude it's gonna have a lot of work.
First time MS p*** on users was when WP7 devices were NOT upgradable to 8.0, but to a merely nothing new, 7.8. Then I remember many users went away because of that.

You're right. It's just the low light capabilities of the camera and RAW features when light is good who make this 1020 cellphone UNIQUE.
