So, Windows Phone 8.1 has a lot of great improvements. There only ones I'm not fond of being the games, music apps and the new cursor. I absolutely love shape writing on this keyboard but the cursor is disappointing.

I loved the one on Windows Phone 8 where it popped up on holding. Now it looks like they're trying to just go by everything competitors seem to be doing.

What are you saying new cursor is very cool, now we don't have to wait for cursor to appear. There is no harm to adapt some things from competitors which gives user a better smartphone experience

Not really, while you're typing you'll still have to hold to get the cursor and then you can't just directly drag out around like in Windows Phone 8. Also the circle thing is small enough to make it frustrating when you're typing quickly.

Dude you can also drag it anywhere and you don't have to hold that circle thing just hold the blinking cursor

And you have to tap only once at the spaces between the words to get the cursor, if you tap the word it will be selected

I hate it. It's inaccurate and frustrating, will need time to adapt. Why fix something which isn't broken. And it's not even an improvement.

Oh, didn't quite get what you were trying to say. We do get to move around with the cursor obviously, it's just that now you'll have to lift your fingers off and then try getting a hold of the the circle which in itself is not always an easy feat for me. The same goes for clicking on the spaces between the words. More often than not they end up selecting the word.

I've grown to like it better, faster now to select items without having to tap and hold. I haven't found it to be any less accurate now, you can still hold the cursor low enough that you aren't covering it with your finger.

Earlier method takes very much time. When we had to correct say 5 words then that took 18 secs including the cursor appearing time but now it only takes 7-8 secs

This new cursor is more of an inconvenience than anything. Earlier one felt easier, cleaner and probably would have saved me a couple of seconds at best, but 7-8 seconds.? No way.

The cursor and the photos hub were two of my biggest complaints with the OS. I love what they've done with both.

So you're the one they listened to?

Seriously though it's sad MS dumb downed their OS to appease a few. At this rate we won't have anything left that's different or unique by the time we get WP 9.

It's unified with with windows 8.1, some experience foe both that's what Microsoft is moving towards.

One of the biggest problems with the old cursor was that it would tend to move if you didn't lift your finger perfectly. The new cursor is faster to get on screen and moves the same as the old one. It's also is easier to position correctly the first time. Not quite sure why all the fuss about the new one.
