Can the Microsoft Band work with normal Windows 8.1? Like for example with a Surface Pro? I have looked everywhere but it's not clearly stated.

I know Microsoft has released a basic desktop application for Windows 7 and 8.1 to sync and update your Band but that it not the same as having the Microsoft Health App in the normal Windows Store and all the functionality which goes with it.

I would like the band to work as if it was connected to a phone but instead connected to a Windows tablet. Is this possible? I thought it was MS's aim to unify all the devices.

I think the would release a "Microsoft Health" app in the near future for the desktop, or perhaps even integrate this with "Health+Fitness"

It seems bizarre that they haven't updated the Health & Fitness app or released a dedicated 8.1 app to work with the Band at launch. Until they do I won't be biting.

All app's have to be cross platform in the end anyway so MS might as well start now with in house devices. For example, if you wanted to pair the Band to an iPad or an Andriod tablet you could but not a Surface RT or Pro! Madness...

It would be great to have it connected to my Surface so all the notification stuff would work and because the Band is so independently fully featured some may not want to pair it to a phone but just have the information is gathers synced and viewable on a desktop.
