Does using WDRT wipe all your data?

I have a Lumia 550 and WDRT is showing a newer firmware version.

What happens to my device when I update it?

Yes, the device recovery tool wipes everything off your phone.

Best way to update would to use phone update option (OTA) however always back up your phone and personal files before performing any update be it via OTA or WDRT.

However bear in mind, you will certain apps and games which do not use cloud save or sync will not back up their data so these will be lost.
