Doesn't return to phone screen during phone call

With the 1520, when I switch away from the phone screen during a phone call and activate and deactivate the proximity sensor, it returns to the last screen I was on with a banner on the top rather than returning to the phone screen. With the 1020, it always returns to the phone screen. Is there some setting on the 1520 I can change to fix this?
