Downloading pictures and videos onto PC

Is there an alternative way to get these files off your phone and onto your PC without installing Zune? Anyway of mounting your phone as an external drive on Windows XP?

I ended up installing Zune but can't seem to get pics or videos off my wifes Lumia.

There should be a folder created in her pictures library that the pictures synced to when you connected to Zune. And no, I'm afraid that's the only way (well, apart from uploading to Skydrive and then downloading again from there).

Make sure and check your sync settings tell Zune what you want to sync.

AFAIK you must install Zune to get updates pushed onto your phone.
But, SkyDrive works well for transferring files back and forth. And, install Mesh on your PC to get auto-syncing of files to the cloud.

There are several apps that will move pictures from your phone to any PC via WiFi (ShareFolder works great) but noting to move video directly, as that folder is not accessible.

Use Windows Phone 7 as USB Drive [How to]: WP7 as USB Drive

This worked for me using Windows 7 and my Nokia 710 that allows you to access your phone as a usb drive. Copy and paste photos into the respective folder where other photos are located. Glad I found it.
