No this isn't about call quality. I'm just surprised this forum is so quiet. The Pro looks like it'll be a great phone after the firmware update, I might even buy one. I wish more people had this phone so we could get some more user impressions.

Can you think of any other phone, WP7 or otherwise which has the persistent crashing issue the DVP has? Plus the fact that Dell continues to sell them with this defect and the best way to solve the issue is to replace your card and void your warranty? It SHOULD have been the best WP7 device but right out the gate there were problems and Dell did their best to ignore them, months later the issues are still there and well known so people are wary of buying this phone. Not surprising at all that this forum is not as busy as others, from crashing to a poor camera to misaligned bodywork the DVP is a lesson in how not to succeed in the smartphone business.

This is true, I have replaced my card and since than it now is the best phone out there, before the crashing all the time was frustrating .. its all in the card .. and it was so easy to test, they dropped the ball on this one

Damn shame Dell messed this phone up right out of the box. Even worse that people have to void warranty just to fix the problem. Hopefully the firmware update fixes the SD card problem. I should email Dell sometime and see if they're willing to budge on that stipulation considering the circumstances.

Does anyone know if both the 16GB and 8GB have problems?

Yes. Its due to the sd card inside, regardless of capacity. That particular card is just broken on a low level evidently and not sure how firmware will fix it.

Just read this on the Dell support forums. It's from a forum poster so take it with a grain of salt.

Dell Venue Pro Firmware Fix - Mobile Devices Forum - Mobile Devices - Dell Community

A MS rep showed me a Venue Pro with a firmware fix from Dell. His device reported 512mb of RAM, it was running the NoDo update, and everything was working smoothly on his device. He said that the Dell firmware has a memory access problem that is fixed with an upcoming firmware update. I hope Dell releases this soon!
