Edge Tab Red X

I've noticed since having my Surface 3 and Surface Pro 4 with Windows 10 and the Edge Browser, sometimes when I touch the white X on a tab to close the tab it won't close it. Instead the white X turns red. If I touch the red X, the tab then closes.

Has anyone else noticed this behavior? It doesn't happen all the time. It's not a big deal, but does take two touches to close the tab. Just curious what the color change signifies.

It probably recognized your touch as hover. Happens when you slide your finger even just a little bit or touched the screen too long.

would be interesting to see a video of that - you could do a screen cast using screen cast software such as active presenter
