EE 920 Update - Why its taking long? NFC Payments? Visual Voicemail?

Im guessing that with the new update GDR2 will come with a new carrier update, which i believe will include NFC Payments, since the Nokia 925 which is already on GDR2, orange says is quick tap ready. Pay Monthly Phones | Contract phones | Orange Shop

This may explain why they are taking longer, although it is still on track with the amount they took to release portico, and it may only be a guess but they may well be adding visaul voicemail to the phone. but this is all just speculation.

This is just speculation but I really hope you're right. I also really want Data Sense to work with it. If we don't hear at least an update soon I'm gonna start losing faith in EE as a whole (and my faith in them is already extremely fragile).

Looking at the update list, many other countries are in the same boat. I went for a WP8 phone coz I hoped Nokia wouldn't be tied into this carrier based update regime, but how wrong I was. This is as bad as the old Symbian days where product codes made the difference between having quick updates and months long waits.

Bit of a joke really. The 920 was on EE months before the other networks hence the reason i went with them. They should have gotten the Amber update out weeks ago.

We still have a few more days till its around the same time difference that they released portico,

• Portico - 11-Dec-2012 - 28-Jan-2013
• GDR2 - 12-Jul-2013 - 29th August?

but its all speculation, EE will have it out in no time. patience.

Ohh I can't wait as I'm travelling soon and I don't want the complications of not being able to receive the update abroad. Even the little 'coming soon' status would give me hope! Hopefully we see something good this week.

They put datasense on though which might have been the reason it took so long. Shame can't have quick tap payments. But are you sure you don't need the new sim card to use it? and that unlocks it? I will have a look.

Yes, the "Secure Sim", or something like that... but there should be another menu in the Wallet app which should at least see it?
I've sent EE a tweet asking, but I've had the phone for a year now... and it's been promised by orange for that length of time
