Email announcing mobile app ... Taste of disappointment

Many companies announce a mobile app via email. I am used to seeing app store link in those emails and don't bother, but when a company announces a mobile app and says download for your mobile device, you expect ios, android and maybe windows.

Then the taste of disappointment comes when I see ios, android and blackberry. And all I can think is blackberry? wtf? really? I would think blackberry would be the last one picked in a line up.

What is it going to take for windows phone to be picked at least 3rd?

WP would need to be know as a Primery OS ( top 3 )

BB is still up there and is still the BEST e-mail/bussines solution!! out of all 4 main OS (Ios,WP,Android WP)

And ALLOT if not most NEW developers are waiting for WP8 to come out before coding ( as comfirmed by a bunch of dev , we sent allot of e-mails )

which means they are just going to release WP8 apps of ****ty code they have ported from their iOS app.

I predict lots of ****ty iOS WP8 ports with little to no thought placed on UI design. We saw this at the beginning of WP7 with craptastic apps from Tripadvisor and other others, but at least TripAdvisor fixed the situation.

Microsoft needs to run much tighter restrictions for native code apps, and really they should have only extended a native code SDK to VIP developers.

Oh and I disagree with BB still being the best email solution. WP7.5 with exchange 14 and rights management is the best solution these days. You'd have to try it to believe me of course, but BES is stuck in the stone ages.

It's coming with time. As WP's marketshare increases, even in small small doses, companies will be more interested in dev'ing for WP. I can understand the frustration at times. The bump that comes with the WP8 will hopefully lock WP as the 3rd platform out there.

The biggest thing people moan about on WP7 is the lack of apps.

Whilst WP8 is in its infancy, nobody will bother to create nice WP8 UIs, it'll be iOS port or nothing. Surely having an app, is better than having

Regarding the OP, I was watching a TV commercial by the local news station promoting their local weather app. The platforms announced: iOS, Android and Blackberry. I also had a "WTF" moment. Just goes to show that WP has quite a ways to go.

Try watching Falling Skies, WP was the first platform the app launched on, now the ads for the app during the show only mention ios and android. WP has no mindshare whatsoever.
