Email on Wifi

When I turn OFF my Focus data connection, and turn ON my Wifi, I can get my email only if I sync MANUALLY.

Once the phone goes to sleep, it will not wake up to get my hourly email updates.

This is annoying ... my Nok E71x does this perfectly (altho symbian is a joke).

Am I doing something wrong?
Is this symptomatic of ALL WP7 phones, or just the Samsung?

Hmm thats odd, I just tested it with my focus and it worked fine
