Email problems

I have a Lumia 900 with Rogers (Canada), and POP/SMTP email accounts with a couple of other ISPs (one is Cogeco, my local provider for cable/internet service). Been having some ongoing problems with sending/receiving email on my phone.

Up until a few days ago (about the time I did the last phone update), I was able to receive emails on my phone anywhere, and from all accounts, but only send from my Cogeco accounts when I was connected through WiFi to the Cogeco network; the non-Cogeco account didn't seem to have this limitation (could send/receive email through any connection Wifi, 3G, whatever).

Now, apparently after the last phone update, I can't receive emails on my phone from any of my POP accounts. Can still send though. Tried power off/on the phone, didn't help.

Based on something I found on a forum, I deleted one of my POP accounts from the phone and tried to add it back, thinking it might help. Account deleted, but can't add it back... when I get to the end of the advanced settings and tap the log in button, it just gives a short error message "Oops! We're having a problem that we can't solve at the moment. Try again later."

It's all seeming to go from bad to worse. Can anyone help me?

AT&T Nokia Lumia 900 Email Syncing Problems

Ever since I installed the last update and replaced the original SIM card on my Lumia 900 a little over a month ago I've had intermittent e-Mail syncing problems as well. Normally I power the device off and then on and the problem's fixed for a day, maybe two, but then the phone will go hours without performing a successful sync.

It's definitely not a network data connectivity issue, because I can get on the internet no problem and launch apps. So this is either a software issue or something related to the new SIM card installed, but it's frustrating nevertheless, as receiving timely e-mail messages is critical to our companys' business.

I've surfed the web to see what information I can find on the problem, but there isn't much out there. Hopefully a fellow 900 owner or frequent guest to this forum can help us.

Have you tried performing a reset of the device and then syncing your information back onto the phone? Maybe I missed something, but it says you applied all the updates *THEN* you changed the SIM. I don't think the two would be directly related but stranger things have happened. Trying doing the reset to stock and see what your phone does at that point.

I eventually contacted Rogers tech support about my problem. They sorted out my long-standing connection issue (had to use their SMTP server - weird), and referred me to Nokia for the bigger problems which emerged post-update. Nokia's answer was to do a hard reset on the phone. It comes with some nuisance implications - losing all data which can't be sync'd, customizations, and all installed apps (although the apps can be re-installed). It worked for me... now behaves like it is supposed to, but a major pain in the a** dealing with the lost settings and data... at least my contacts and calendar came back with minimal fuss.

BTW, it isn't really a "reset to stock"... phone updates remain i.e. still running the latest update... power-up after "factory reset" behaves as if the phone just came out of the box, except running the lastest installed O/S instead of the one it originally had out of the box.

I actually replaced the SIM card on my 900 approx. a week prior to fully updating the phone. I had to replace the SIM card because the receiver on the phone stopped working out of the blue and I could not hear the person at the other end of a conversation. The clerk at the AT&T store had seen the problem before and knew immediately what the fix was for it.

That said, the thought of doing a "hard" reset is more of a hassle to me than it's worth, as you basically have to start from square one with the device, even though certain aspects of it, such as Outlook contacts are backed up in Windows Live. Problem is all of the apps have to be reinstalled (provided you can remember what you had), phone settings need to be adjusted (provided you can remember those too, LOL) and there's no guarantee it will solve the problem.

If the problem persists and or gets worse, I'll try doing a hard reset or wait for the 7.8 update to come out and hope it provides the fix. Thanks for the advice!
