Emoji shows up as chinese characters on receiver's phone, both using W10 Mobile phones

My wife and I both have Windows 10 phones, lately when she sends me an emoji, it shows up as several lines of Chinese characters (not Chinese emojis). Doesn't happen when she sends them to anyone else.

well you go press -vol+power button when you see it, and describe your issue and click summit

btw does she get proper emojis when you are the one sending them?

Have the same issue, my wife's L1020 will on occasions receive the Chinese looking letters when I text her from my L950
