Equinox + Cigarette USB 1.5amp charger + Copilot GPS = drain, wont charge (slow without gps)

I've had this issue for a while.. basically even without the copilot gps running, the phone in the car is charging at maybe 1% every half hour or more..

I have a 2010 equinox and i'm using the cigarette lighter aux port in the front seat plus a generic 2 port 1.5amp USB charger..

If you turn on the gps, after 30 minutes it goes down 1%, even though it reports its charging at 53 per hour.. I'm pretty sure these are 5 amp fuses for the aux ports in the car, so i'm unsure if maybe its just a bad usb charger (slow one despite saying 1.5 amp)..

In my house i use a wall usb that is rated the same and it charges super fast.. 20% in 17 min or so.

Any thoughts here?

I ended up ordering this anker usb charger.. the one review was nearly identical to the issues i was facing.. it should be the ticket to success.. i hope..
