I've had a Lumia 1520 for approx. 2 years & still love the device. It's currently on 10.0.14390.0 (current Fast ring build), took the plunge since it's almost the Anniversary build. It's running quite well, in the short time I've had it (approx. 24 hours).
My question (soliciting opinions):

  • leave it exactly where it is - going forward
  • Fallback (WDRT) to 8.1 to possibly get additional firmware?
    • I was on Lumia Denim earlier - no further ...
    • I seem to remember a firmware update, after Denim, which I'm not sure I received - which could be had thru WDRT.
    • Possibly this firmware update has been rolled into subsequent releases - I took some sort of firmware update yesterday w 14390.

Welcome any info from Lumia 1520 owners.

My understanding has always been, your device is a product of the apps installed (my apps are different from your subset of apps, thus phone behaves differently).

BTW - when I install nu versions, I soft reset, which seems to be enuff.
Have NOT had to do a Hard Reset (even restoring backup) to my recollection.

I have a Lumia 1520 (RM-940) from AT&T, I never been on the Preview. I did an Official upgrade to WP10 a couple of weeks ago. It seen to run without any glitches and I did not have to do a hard reset. It's now on OS build:10.0.10586.494 and the firmware revision number:02540.00019.14484.37028. All my data and contacts was there when it booted up... However, there was a few apps that are not supported in WP10, such as Kids Corner and Local Scout... So far, I got accustomed to WP10 OS and IMO I like it more than WP8.1, because it seen to run more fluid and smoother.

OK, had to Hard Reset, yesterday ...

Phone was getting VERY hot, Photos did NOT work (possibly cause & effect), Time will tell.
Just about back on configurations, etc.

UPDATE :
after ~~ 24hrs on 14390 (after Hard Reset) my Lumia 1520 is like a new phone - smooth, responsive, etc

Hated to Hard Reset, but glad I did - still don't see Voice Recorder in Calls, though.
