Firmware update advice plz

Ok W8 is new to me, been with Android for years and a little unsure about two things.

There is a update due mid end January, and I am not sure if it is best to hard reset after the update, on Android it was always better to do this but on here I read some saying it helps, and some saying phone is worse after they hard reset....whats bets?

Also when you hard reset do you lose game saves, I ask as I did this once but it kept my Halo game save, I was a bit shocked it did, is this the same for all, reason been I dont want to play on stuff and lose the saves if/when I hard rest after the update.

No need at all to hard reset after an update on WP8. You won't have any funny business like on Android.
