Font change in windows 10

Hallo there guys, I just tried several times to change the default font in windows 10. So I followed the proper steps through notepad and edited SEGOE UI = Gabriola font. After finishing and linking the new font to registry i restarted the machine but got stuck at the signin screen. The login option of my account was not there and trying to use the onscreen keyboard(changed font) didn't help either so I had to use the restore point I created earlier. I really need to know what is the problem? The onscreen keyboard on sign in screen has the new font but I can't go past that. I tried to boot to safe mode but it didn't work either and am back to the boring default font.
