Froze at log-in: how to reset?

I picked up my Dell Venue 8 Pro, tried to swipe to log in. The screen is bright, looks normal, but it's frozen and unresponsive.

I've rotated, held and pushed the buttons (incl various combinations), swiped, and so forth. Nothing.

Any ideas how to reset this thing? Thanks!!

Mystery solved: to reset, while holding the On/Off, insert a paperclip in the small hole between the micro USB port and On/Off. Magic!

There is no hole there, the only hole is the mic and an LED for charging.

Yeah, its like a full PC, hold down the power button for 10 seconds and it will hard boot

Hello. I just had the same issue described above. I turned my Dell Venue 8 Pro 5000 Series on an it went up to the screensaver before the login screen and it won't swipe over to do it.

I have rebooted it several times wondering if it would help but nothing. I can't go anywhere past this issue and there is no way i can log back into it.

Please, give me a hand on this.
