I upgraded to W10 on my 640 and the reminders that were on Cortana in 8.1 still show up. In outlook calendar they show up as reminders-remind me and search reminders. When I deleted all of the reminders in Cortana the reminders-remind me still show up in the calendar. When I add a new reminder with Cortana, it shows up as search reminders. In the calendar I can click on the reminders-remind me but clicking on a reminder I just made takes me to a blank screen.

While I was typing this, one of my previous reminders came up twice. One toast was the W10 style and the other was the 8.1 style.

How do I get rid of the old ones, since I've deleted them in W10?

They may still be in your cloud account. Windows phones will automatically back up some settings to OneDrive, and also to (Outlook calendar) reminders may be one of these. The feature can be turned off in the settings.

They do this to allow the syncing of information across all of your devices, i.e. PC, phone and/or mobile devices.

You may need to log into outlook on the web, or use a desktop version of office that uses the same account that your phone uses, to delete any reminders that may need to be removed for good. That should get rid of them for good.

Hope all of that made sense.

Can I get to old Cortana reminders somewhere besides a Windows 8.1 phone?

Weird. Just noticed that my 635 on the same account doesn't even show a category for the old reminders at all.

Hard reset killed the ghost reminders, and fixed all kinds of things.
