Hi all, was curious, is the glance (or an equivalent) available on any of the non lumia phones?. This is one of the best wp features I think and would like to see it live on as Lumia continues to die down.

It was actually a Nokia feature that Nokia added to their Lumia's. Fun fact: It predates Windows Phone.

Comparable features are Ambient Display/Always-On Display/Moto Display on Android. (e.g. Galaxy S7, Moto X, Nexus 5X, BlackBerry Priv, etc.)

iOS has no comparable feature.

HTC's Dot View cover was held up as an alternative when the HTC One M8 was available but eh.

There's a rumor about HP releasing a mid range consumer phone in 2017. The rumor says it will have all the MS/Nokia goodies like Glance etc.
But - again - it's a rumor

technically it is now a basic OS feature, all you need is a phone with display memory, and the OEM to enable it, maybe someone at XDA finds a phone with worthy hardware and tries enabling it, by force!

I wonder if the x3 could do that.. but seeing as they fabricated their own DDTW and have a pseudo-glance thing when docked, I doubt they want to use the BETTER, already working and available solution

For glance you have to use a compatible display (one with display memory). I doubt the x3 has that

I don't think it will happen but it would be nice to see the next Nokia generation with the Windows option.

Its a shame that the glance screen is not on HP Elite x3. It is one of the best smart features.
