gMaps no direction?

I downloaded gMaps on my 920 but, I realize the "direction" button doesn't work. So how come I can't get direction on gMaps?

Don't worry I found the crossed bar. It does have directions

Kinda related but is it only possible to create a route between your current location and a secondary location? Or can I put in any two locations and create a route between them, like can be done on the official Google Maps clients on other platforms. Sorry if the way to do this is blindingly obvious I bought the app this afternoon and just haven't been able to figure out if it's possible.

Edit: Never mind just figured out that's the point of the A and B pins. Brain isn't working tonight.
