I see what you are saying now with people overreacting about Cortana. Goodness gracious. There has been several posts about it. Even after a response from the guy. People continue to just beat the discussion to death.

Not depressing at all. Just in a news slump. With the purchase of Nokia and the announced WP 8.1, there just isn't any other news rolling out right now. It sounds like it may be the fall before we get a new wave of devices. That leaves the L930 and L630 as the only new phones, and that just is disappointing. All these new or returning OEMs, and nothing new coming out in the next couple months. What is left to get excited about? Surface 3 just isn't a driving device and XBOX Music updates and XBOX 1 news just doesn't apply to everyone.

Kinda leaves things a tad "blah". But when WP 8.1 devices start getting rumored and the fall season gets here, HOPEFULLY we will be past this dead period and HOPEFULLY there will not be another year like 2014 with this "blah" period.

Ok now I agree. But the moaning for irrelevant stuff e.g Cortana on IOS and Android is clearly a massive issue

I was going to disagree with you, but some days it feels like every news story relates to Xbox or Surface (when they're not trying to sell me a cheap case for one kind of Lumia or another)

WPCentral is actually going to be renamed sometime soon (probably within the next month or so) to something more Microsofty. I'm thinking it'll be MicroCentral.

Those WPCentral articles trying to sell you a cheap case for one kind of Lumia or another are how they get the money to keep this Mobile Nations site afloat (in addition to ad revenue and/or the $1.00 purchase of the WPCentral app).

Kinda feels like it's growing more and more every day to me! Lots of new sections in the forums.. and sub-sections... I know the 1020 photography thread stays busy (the 920 photo thread too!)

That, and there's always new articles on the front page during the week.. I think Daniel and the guys do a great job keeping things fresh here.

I have to respectfully disagree with the OP on this one. WPCentral has grown leaps and bounds over the first half of 2014. The membership is passionate and super-engaged, and the forums have become one of the most popular on Mobile Nations.

Couple this with the superb efforts of Daniel and the editorial team, and WPC is miles ahead of where it was last year.

I am truly sorry some may feel WPC is 'depressing' now, but I feel completely the opposite is true. With such an engaged and large membership, it's true you're going to have more complaining and more 'trouble' situations to take care of. But that said, you're also going to have a lot more of the good stuff. Members helping out other members, thoughtful conversations, relationship building and a greater sense of community.

Trust me when I say we're just getting started here, many more good things to come here at WPC. Hope you're all excited too!

Um, I slightly disagree with you. Sorry, James.

I think what he meant was that we sort of lost that sense of unrestrained optimism. I mean, some people here were seriously swayed by iOS 8, and that's actually a bit of a concern.

I thought that you were just exaggerating, because this place has lost some of its bright outlook (could be some troll$, though) over time, especially post-Q3 Nokia report.

(EDIT1.5: By the way, I suspect that slight decline in confidence is part of the growing pains of the community, after all. I mean, the site has gone larger, and not everyone looks at the greener grass.)
