Going to 8.1, but have a question

Hi all

I have a question. Im in UK and Im thinking of updating to the latest 8.1 from Black, however,

When Cyan with 8.1 is released, will i still get the full update OTA or will i have to flash back to lumia black for a full release.

You will get the full OTA update as normal aslong as you update via DP.

Oh, erm.... I just did... Are the bugs that bad...

Hang on.. is it supposed to be this easy.. All i did was download preview for developers from the apps store, signed in with my Microsoft account.. and i got 8.1 straight away.. I didnt have to register visual studio or as a developer or anything.. is it supposed to be this simple.

I thought i had to register online, change my region and everything.. Im only making sure that I have the developer preview and ill get the Cyan/8.1 OTA in 2 weeks...

You'll be fine. Any phone with the 8.1 dev preview on it will get the official update over the air just like everyone else.

I've been on 8.1 for well over a month and I have yet to find these bugs that everyone talks about. I am using a Hong Kong phone too. Even Cortana works fine.

I was going to wait too, but I was getting impatient with how uncertain and wonky the whole process is to get this update released and I was getting sick of checking "phone update". At this rate, you really don't know how long it's going to take for them to release the update since it has to get passed through region, carrier, and specific phone model.

I got the 8.1 update and I am extremely glad I did. The update runs very solid and I've noticed very rare and minor bugs that doesn't affect the experience. When the preview first came out I heard there were a lot of bugs, but enough time has passed to iron almost everything out. I'm even running Cortana here in Canada and it works great. I really see no reason to wait as updating now VS. later will probably be almost identical.

The process is pretty easy. Let me know if you can't figure it out

I just got a 1520.3 and I was planning on waiting til the Cyan/8.1 update is released. I just moved from Android and this is my first WP (lovin' it, but I'm still in my "adjustment phase").

Quick question: When I upgrade to Cyan and WP8.1, will I loose all my personal data within my applications (specifically, my Favorites locations stored within Navigon)? Or does the phone do a back-up of app data prior to the upgrade?

u don't lose a thing but ensure to make backup just before u upgrade. good luck

I think that we have a wrong information here about Lumia Cyan ... Lumia 925 DP 8.1 did not get update in Finland, unless you downgrade it first to 8.0 ... well, Lumia DP 8.1 will get update, of course, but you have to wait longer ...

no problem at all mate.
u can backup Manually app and settings again if you want to be sure, but yeah that's what I'm talking about

you have been mislead buddy. each device running windows phone 8.1 will Recieve cyan update without reverting back to Lumia black.

YOU did not catch me ... Lumia 925 got already Lumia Cyan update in Finland, but not if you had DP 8.1 ... and yes, sure, all will get it sooner or later

I just updated to 8.1 took an hour to do,no bugs, separate. Volume for apps and ringtones,no laggy scrolling, move games and apps to SD card. Done this on my lumia 1520 in London, england
