Got my new (used) 820

I received my AT&T 820 today, and I have been setting it up for the last few hours. I'm coming from an AT&T 520. The prior owner had a relative who worked for Nokia, and this was used as a demonstration model. The phone is in very good condition. There is mild burn in on the AMOLED screen. It had not even been updated to GDR2/Amber. I updated to GDR3/Black.

This is a beautiful phone. It feels very solid. I love the screen, as I prefer AMOLED and it's saturation. One nice thing is the Here+ app vs. plain old Here on the 520. It looks like I can use the offline maps/nav without any SIM in the phone. Double tap to wake works very well. Glance is a cool feature. There's an equalizer for audio settings. The speaker is reasonably loud for playing music.

Anyways, I'm using this as a media player for the time being and a backup phone. I'm going to try out the camera and phone functions. I'll see how the battery holds up, and may replace it.

Congratulation. Lumia 820 is still a nice , fast fluid windows phone , only con is the battery life , but as you said above there is no sim , meaning it won't catch any radio , resulting more battery life
You can also play high end games like subway surfers , temple run 2 with xbox achievements

I got purple. The cover comes off relatively easily, despite people describing difficulties removing it.

At least as a media player from a battery standpoint, it holds its own again the 520.

Holding it reminds me of my old iPhone 3G. Hefty and with similar contours.

i find that if you place a fingernail against the cover at the top of the phone from the screen side and gently push the camera/flash window from the back at the same time,the cover pops off very easily!,oh and great phone by the way! :smile:

Never seen a purple, didn't know they even had them. If you ever decide to get a different back cover let me know. Would love to have a purple to go with my black, red and yellow. The red and yellow are wireless backcovers. Doubt the purple is; but you never know. Have fun with that wild back cover.

Here are some pics I took from my Nexus 5. The colors look a little washed out, but I have orange tiles that really pop. The Glance screen should be red, but on the pic, it looks orange. Note the 3 days and 1 hour estimated remaining battery life on the top tile! I'm not sure about that happening with the reports of bad battery life of the 820.

I'll let you know about the purple cover. I'm thinking of a red wireless cover.
