It's been a long time since I posted. Last time I posted here I was mad at myself for getting a Lumia 950 XL 10 months ago that was international version vs a US since there a few things missing. . Got my money back went with my old Lumia 640. Saved up and now got a new 950 here right in the US. Now I have to say wow has much changed since then when I try the phone I'm litterly thrilled to at least have this 950 though I notice upon charging the phone and redownloading all apps plus downloading latest windows 10 on the phone that I got a pop up a few times that if the phone don't cool down that its getting to warm. Now is this a common issue if not careful with the phone? I am going to keep the phone cause I'm thrilled about it. Though I keep thinking if this a common problem? Why doesn't it have water cooling like the XL? Any feedback id appreciate it a lot. Thanks :)

Once you have downloaded all the apps and done the OS upgrades, it should cool down. Think abut how much work it went through downloading and updating. In the lont term, I don't think heating will be a problem.

Now if you are a gamer or stream music, it might get warm but not as hot as initial startup.

Thanks. I have noticed improvement since then and no more pop up asking if I want to shut down. Truly an amazing phone. :)

MY gf's phone was getting warm in the beginning of setting up her phone for the first time also, doing all the downloads and updates and phone sorting itself out, but after all that when it was finished it is cool as a cucumber and hasn't had a problem of over heating nada once. BUT! she doesn't do anything intensive...

This is good advice, once you have the latest production build installed you will only probably notice phone heat when fast charging, I use a browser with mutli apps running, and the phone only gets very mildy warm, not hot.

My phone got quite warm when I was installing all the apps on day one. Now it gets warm when I charge because it is always on fast charge. Once off the charger, it never gets warm during the entire day's usage. Good luck.

I have been using the 950 for over 1 year. The heating issue is there and will not be solved. I also like the phone and i cant get rid of it because I use it with Continuum in the office. But I bought the iPhone 7 plus because I needed apps and a cool not warm phone. The difference is huge between iPhone and 950. Cannot be compared. I recommend you don't use the 950 for social media and YouTube. Just use it for making calls and texting plus WhatsApp. You won't face a heat issue. But if you go for games and other media apps you will face heat all the time.:devil::devil::devil:
