Having a 256mb WP8 is the New 7.X

Joe Belfiore was tweeting about how an update to Facebook Beta worked on 256 Mb phones and I was just thinking how all those people must have felt how I felt with my 7.8 phone.

There isn't any windows phone 8 device with lesser than 512mb ram, I heard wp8 isn't compatible with any lesser ram

No, there were 256 MB devices, if I remember correctly from the old WP ages... If WP8 devices get all apps and WP8 512 MB gets most apps, and 7.x gets very little apps (most only develop for 8), how would the 256 MB guys be doing??

Yes, actually, there are WP7 256MB devices... Anyone else remember the Lumia 610? I wanted one...

But this is WP8 forum, the thread title is about WP8, not WP7. and there is no 256MB WP8 devices (the OS alone needs about 220MB of RAM). WTF are you talking about WP7 here?

As far as I can tell, 256 MB devices do not exist in Windows Phone 8 land.

They were rare even in WP7 land, at least to me. Never saw or heard of the 510 or 610 in the US until i went and looked for whether they existed.
